Jhon Duran bombshell: ‘Unsettled’ Aston Villa striker could quit

Jhon Duran could quickly become unsettled at Aston Villa if he remains uncertain of being the “main man”, according to Ian Darke.

The 21-year-old striker has grabbed headlines this season for his regular impact from the bench, and has more recently been starting games – signing a new contract until 2030 in the autumn.

However, Duran was close to a departure in the summer from Villa Park and could have his work cut out to return to the starting XI after a controversial red card against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

“Despite the lack of starts until recently, Duran had actually featured in every game this season. They’ve given him a new six-year deal which was signed back in the autumn, so I think they’re trying to keep him as happy as they can,” TV broadcaster Darke exclusively told Villa News.

“He has really shown what he can do every time he has been used, and it’s a lovely problem Emery has had. He just seems to come up with something; it’s a heck of a return. He’s massively confident and decisive.

“There will come a time with Duran where if he isn’t regularly starting, given his maverick character, he could become a bit unsettled and want to go somewhere he can be the main man, and Villa recently have plateaued.”

Jhon Duran is an intriguing character at Aston Villa

There always appears to be an interesting story surrounding Duran, and Emery will be well aware he has to keep the Colombian international as content as possible to eke the performances from him.

Villa’s number nine was accused of listening to “bad advice” in the summer as he was publicly close to joining West Ham United, while Chelsea were also known to hold a significant interest.
