Aston Villa reach £6.6m agreement as January medical booked for transfer

Aston Villa have reached an agreement to sign Yasin Ozcan from Kasimpasa ahead of the January transfer window, according to IHA.

The Turkish outlet reported on 24 December that the 18-year-old will travel to England in the first week of January to undergo a medical.

The Villans have agreed a £6.6million deal with the Super Lig side for the centre back who is said to be on the shortlists of many sides in Turkyie and across the world.

Despite having a generally positive campaign so far, Unai Emery’s side has struggled defensively at times which has caused problems.

Villa have kept just two clean sheets since the start of November in all competitions which isn’t good enough for a side in pursuit of a top-four finish.

Mistakes are prone at the back at times, summed up by Phil Foden’s late goal in the win against Manchester City on Saturday (21 December).

With that being said, it appears that Monchi and Co. are moving quickly to improve the back line and are taking a risk with a highly-rated teenager.

Ozcan has already made 76 appearances for Kasimpasa despite his young age and also has the versatility to play at left-back.

Being left-footed, the Turkyie Under-21 international could act as an ideal understudy for Pau Torres at the back and grow into the role.

Like Morgan Rogers last winter, this move has come out of the blue but could prove to be a stroke of genius by the recruitment team at Villa Park.
