Aston Villa v Man City: Richard Keys stunned at extraordinary Guardiola admission

Richard Keys has reacted to an “extraordinary” admission made by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ahead of the loss to Aston Villa.

Morgan Rogers, previously on the books at Man City, scored for Villa in a 2-1 win in Saturday’s (21 December) Premier League contest at Villa Park.

Speaking prior to the match, Guardiola said he always knew Rogers would become the player he is at Aston Villa.

Reacting to those quotes straight after full-time on beIN SPORTS 1 [21 December, 2:24pm], Keys said: “Beaten by another of their own.

“I find that quote from Guardiola extraordinary, saying he’s pleased he’s hitting the heights he knew he would. So why did you let him go? Why did you let Cole Palmer go?”

Aston Villa pile more misery on Pep Guardiola’s Man City

Villa were good value for their victory, which makes it nine defeats in 12 matches for the reigning English champions.

Guardiola was visibly frustrated at the full-time whistle as his side’s quite remarkable plight goes on an on.

From Villa’s perspective, this was a third win in four Premier League outings – the only blip being the collapse at Nottingham Forest last time out – as they got back to winning ways.

Rogers played a massive part in the victory and he is proving why he is one of the finest talents anywhere in the country.

Some questioned the transfer at the start of the year, but Rogers has done nothing but prove the doubters wrong on an almost weekly basis.

City’s loss is very much the Villans’ gain, and hopefully the 22-year-old will continue going from strength to strength in a Villa shirt.
