Monchi £12.5m bid confirmed by club chief – Aston Villa transfer news

Besiktas president Huseyin Yucel has confirmed that he rejected a £12.5 million bid from Aston Villa for Semih Kilicsoy last summer.

The Villans were linked with a move for the 19-year-old in the summer transfer window with Jhon Duran’s future in the air. [11 July, Yabiz Sabuncuoglu]

Unai Emery’s side are reportedly still interested in the forward and the player has decided to leave Istanbul in 2025. [27 November, The Star]

In a Q&A with Tivibu Spor, the Turkish club’s president claimed that Villa’s sporting director Monchi had made two offers for the starlet in the summer, saying: “Aston Villa made an offer for Semih Kilicsoy. Monchi’s first offer was 12m euros [£10m]. Then, it increased to 15m euros [12.5m].

“Semih would also play for our team for one year. They also asked me whether I wanted Diego Carlos or Alex Moreno. I couldn’t get this accepted.

“15 million euros is too little.”

Will Aston Villa revive interest in Kilicsoy?

If Villa are to return with a new offer for the Turkish star, it will likely take a bid of around £25m to complete a deal.

They will also face competition from Paris Saint-Germain in their pursuit of the youngster, according to the report from The Star.

However, it remains to be seen whether Unai Emery is ready to bring another striker to Villa Park to compete with Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran.

The duo have been in sensational form this campaign, with the Colombian establishing himself as a ‘super sub’ with the majority of his goals coming when he is substituted on by Emery.

It is unclear where Kilicsoy will fit in amongst Emery’s striking options, as the Spaniard prefers to play with a sole striker.

Monchi may well decide to focus on options in other positions as a number nine is far down the list of the Villans priorities right now.

In other Aston Villa news, the club have been urged to pay ‘big money’ for a wantaway Manchester United star.
