Aston Villa and NSWE stance emerges on new European Super League
Aston Villa and NSWE are unlikely to throw any support behind a new European Super League, Dan Plumley has said.
It has been confirmed that the ‘Unify League’ are set to challenge UEFA with a new-look tournament, with the Villans currently in the Champions League.
Plumley, a football finance expert, admits that Villa are likely enjoying the Champions League and are likely to support UEFA alongside their other Premier League clubs.
“I still think that’s unlikely,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“I know that Villa are unhappy with some of the Premier League regulations, particularly around Associated Party Transactions and PSR, but I think this conversation is very different.
“This is about the Super League going up against UEFA and I think we’ve seen the big clubs in England play their hand there and get behind UEFA, certainly in the short-to-medium term.
Aston Villa to join new-look Super League?
“I think Villa would be unlikely to deviate from that, and over the top of that, they’re probably quite enjoying the Champions League group stage at the minute and the money that can bring.
“Given where they are at the minute, it’s unlikely that they would look to deviate away from that and also, I think it’s likely the Premier League clubs will stick together.”

With the European Super League reforming to challenge UEFA again, only Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to remain as members from the last failed attempt.
Villa were not in the mix last time, but with their added success at both Premier League and Champions League level, the spotlight could soon be on NSWE at Villa Park.
