Aston Villa to approve Emi Buendia exit as new attacker lined up
Emi Buendia could leave in January to accommodate a new loan signing at Villa Park, according to Aston Villa insider Dan Bardell.
The Argentine has hardly featured since returning from a long-term injury, making just two starts across all competitions this season.
This could point towards a winter or even summer move being on the cards [Jacob Tanswell] as Unai Emery continues to favour Morgan Rogers.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell can see Villa making an attacking signing in January, which would first require the departure of the 27-year-old.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think they’ve said that they are an attacker short so they’ll be looking in that area.
“A lot will depend on outgoings, like if Buendia is getting frustrated with a lack of minutes he could go out on loan somewhere to get his wages off the books.
“Could we then see a loan for an attacker happen? I can see a world where that happens.
“If Villa are going to do anything it will be an attacker because the club see themselves as one short from what I’ve heard.
“The unfortunate thing for Villa is that PSR is a real drawback. You get the impression around the club that Villa will have to let someone leave the squad first.“
Emi Buendia could leave Aston Villa in January
The former Norwich City star just hasn’t been afforded the chance to reach full match sharpness in recent weeks so he can’t necessarily be blamed for his form.
Buendia came off the bench in the Champions League win against RB Leipzig and had some positive touches but with such limited minutes, it was hard to make a positive impact.

A loan move away from Villa Park in the winter window could make sense before Emery assesses the attacking midfielder’s future in the summer.
