Lineker hits out over Nottm Forest v Aston Villa controversy MOTD failed to show
Gary Lineker hit out at the decision to overturn Chris Wood’s equaliser for Nottingham Forest against Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Villans travelled to the City Ground on Saturday [14 December] but a 93rd-minute winner meant Unai Emery’s team came away empty-handed.
Wood initially got his side level in the 81st minute although Villa would have thought they narrowly escaped danger after the goal was overturned by VAR for offside.
The incident was not analysed on Match of the Day [14 December, 58:57] but Lineker made his feelings clear as he said: “I’m not sure about the Chris Wood offside either.
“How they can judge that from that shoulder thing? It’s to change it anyway, there we go.”

In what was an exciting end to the game, with all three goals coming after the 63rd minute, Villa will be disappointed that they weren’t able to get anything out of the clash.
After Wood’s equaliser was denied in the 81st minute, that should have been a wake-up call for Emery’s side to stay on top of their game for the remainder of the match.
However, the tenacity of their opponents was too much for the Villans to handle and they were not able to see the game out.
Perhaps the biggest positive from the afternoon was another goal for Jhon Duran who turned 21-years-old this weekend, his form continues to be impressive and shows that the West Midlands outfit have a definite star on their hands.
The games continue to come thick and fast over the festive period and it’s Manchester City up next for Villa on Saturday [21 December]. With Pep Guardiola’s side a lesser threat than typical, Emery will be hoping his side can exploit that and get back to winning ways.
