Douglas Luiz jets into Birmingham after Monchi admission at Aston Villa

Douglas Luiz has jetted into Birmingham ahead of the clash between Aston Villa and Juventus after Monchi revealed he would sign him if he had the chance.

The Brazil international shared an image to his Instagram on 27 November of him on a private jet with an England flag emoji.

It is likely that the 26-year-old was on the 3:00pm flight from Turin to the West Midlands ahead of the Champions League game between his current and former side.

This comes on the same day as Tuttomercatoweb shared quotes from Monchi who suggested that he would always want to sign Luiz at any club.

He said: “Would I take him back? After his departure, we made investments and our midfield is well-stocked with Tielemans, Onana, Kamara, Barkley… But I would always take Douglas back, at any club: he’s top class.”

The Old Lady are travelling to Villa Park, keen on securing three points in Europe’s elite competition for the first time since early October.

They will have to do so without their summer signing and former Villa fan favourite who is absent from the matchday squad due to injury.

It is clear that the Brazilian still holds the B6 club close to his heart and is travelling to the game despite not being able to feature.

This shows a lot about his character and so do the quotes from Villa’s president of football operations who has plenty of admiration for the midfielder.

It was certainly a blow when the Villans were forced into selling Luiz due to PSR restrictions which helped Unai Emery’s side miss out on a points deduction.

Villa have struggled without him and the ex-Manchester City man has struggled in Turin so he will likely be relishing the chance to return to Villa Park even if it is just for a night.
