Unai Emery receives ‘huge’ triple injury boost ahead of Aston Villa v Crystal Palace
Bryan King claims Unai Emery has been handed a “huge boost” after three Aston Villa players were spotted back in first-team training.
The ex-Villa scout believes Emery will be delighted to have some positive news after the injury setback for midfielder Amadou Onana.
As reported by Birmingham Live (19 November), Ian Maatsen and Pau Torres were both spotted in first-team training on Tuesday 19 November after being sent home early by their respective nations, while Matty Cash was also among those involved.
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – thinks this can only be a good thing.
“That will be a huge boost for Emery,” King said.
“Especially with Amadou Onana out, and potentially Ezri Konsa as well. To lose such a central player like Onana, Emery will be delighted to at least have some good news on the injury front.
“He would’ve liked Onana to be fit and available for selection I’m sure. However, of course, it is always good to have three first-team players back in training and back in contention for a place.”
Aston Villa handed injury boost ahead of clash with Crystal Palace
Villa are without a win in all competitions in over a month, which has resulted in a “huge” Emery update during the international break (via The Athletic, 20 November).
Therefore, the club will be desperate for a win and will be searching for three points in the Premier League against Crystal Palace at Villa Park on Saturday (23 November).
As a result, Emery will be delighted to have some first-team options back in training, including Cash.

With injury issues piling up at the club, including a fresh setback for Boubacar Kamara, any player who is able to return to action will be welcomed by Emery with open arms.
