Morgan Rogers earning as much as Ollie Watkins after contract announcement – Aston Villa Insider

Bryan King expects that Morgan Rogers will be earning as much as Ollie Watkins after the 22-year-old signed a brand-new contract with Aston Villa.

The ex-Villa scout believes the England international’s new contract includes a substantial pay increase.

Aston Villa announced via their official website on Tuesday (19 November) that Rogers has signed a new deal with the club which runs until 2030.

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes Rogers’ new contract has been well-earned.

“I’d imagine that Rogers’ salary has increased,” King said.

“He will now be one of the top earners at Villa alongside Watkins, without a doubt. He will be earning big money now. He’s broken into the England squad and will probably be used by the Three Lions in the future, and of course as a central player at Villa.

“Rogers has done really well, he’s worked hard and he’s got himself into a position where he could be at Villa for the next six years if he wants. In football if you work hard then you get your rewards, so well done to him.”

Morgan Rogers earning as much as Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa?

Rogers has become a key player under Unai Emery at Villa Park, especially this season.

Despite already having a contract with the club which ran until 2029, Villa were keen to get that extended and reward the player for his form. Therefore, it is clear to see just how much he is valued by the club and by Emery.

Rogers’ pay rise will no doubt make it more difficult for other top sides to lure him away from Villa, which would have certainly been part of the club’s thinking in offering him a new deal.

As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is now earning as much as Watkins.
