Aston Villa may have ready-made Pau Torres alternative already at Bodymoor Heath
Aston Villa may have a ready-made replacement for Pau Torres in Sil Swinkels after Jacob Tanswell revealed that a loan move is on the cards in January.
The Dutchman joined the Villans in 2020 and has gone on to make just two appearances for the first team, one coming in the bizarre FA Cup clash against Liverpool in January 2021.
His longevity at the club shows how he is rated by the academy staff and the men’s side at Villa Park, featuring heavily for the Under-23s side despite being just 20 years old.
Now it appears that Unai Emery and Co. have a vision for his future at the club after what Tanswell told

He said: “Sil Swinkels, it’s pretty nailed on that he will go on loan in January. Villa still rate him very highly.”
“They see him as a similar mould to Pau [Torres] in the sense that he’s left-footed, quite tall, he obviously played in that Wycombe cup game as well.”

There is no doubt that the Spain international has proved to be one of Villa’s better signings of recent times with his ability on the ball.
This has made the 27-year-old a stalwart under Emery in his time at the club so the idea of having a ready-made replacement is a dream.
Swinkels has been a regular at Villa Park in terms of appearances as an unused substitute and also in preseason friendlies without ever featuring in a Premier League game.
With that being said, the former Vitesse youngster could soon become a Premier League regular if he can find his feet out on loan.
A move to League One or the Championship to play on a regular basis could allow him to prove himself both physically and with the ball at his feet.
If the Dutch defender can make a temporary move away in January and show his best form in men’s football, a return to Villa Park to play for the first team could be on the cards.
