Aston Villa deal with Southampton on the cards as Emi Buendia exit admission made
Dan Bardell believes Aston Villa could move for Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling if Emi Buendia was to leave in January.
The Villans are front of the queue to sign the 18-year-old who has impressed for the newly promoted side so far this campaign [Football Transfers].
Monchi and his transfer team have monitored the versatile midfielder which could see them make an approach in the coming weeks or months.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell is unsure whether Villa would make a January approach unless Buendia was to leave Villa Park.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I don’t think that will happen this season, it could be one to keep an eye on in the summer.
“I just don’t think Southampton are going to let a player like Dibling go mid-season. Clubs are going to be reluctant to sell especially if they are battling relegation like Southampton are.
“He’s not the type of player we need, if Villa are going to strengthen anywhere in January I don’t see it being in the attacking positions. If Buendia was to leave they might move for him.“
Aston Villa could sign Tyler Dibling if Emi Buendia leaves
It has to be said that the Argentine hasn’t had many chances to impress this season since returning from a long-term injury, featuring across just 20 Premier League minutes so far.
This could see the 27-year-old go out in search of regular football to rediscover his form from before his lengthy absence.
If that is the case, it would make sense to bring someone like Dibling in who could thrive under Unai Emery, in a similar vein to Morgan Rogers.

It is unclear how much the Saints could demand for his signature but if he is wanted at Villa Park, it could be hard for England Under-19 international to turn down.
