Unai Emery fuming with Ezri Konsa development in another Aston Villa injury twist
Unai Emery will surely be fuming with yet another injury concern at Aston Villa after Ezri Konsa was forced to leave the England camp after suffering an injury against Greece.
The Three Lions secured a 3-0 win in their first Nations League clash of the international break on 14 November with Ollie Watkins getting on the scoresheet.
As much as this pleased Villa supporters, they were concerned to see the defender hobble off and be replaced by Lewis Hall at the interval.
Now England Football has confirmed (16 November) that the 27-year-old will return to Villa Park and miss the clash against the Republic of Ireland.
Unai Emery to be fuming at Aston Villa with Ezri Konsa England injury
The versatile defender has played at right back in recent weeks after Matty Cash suffered a second injury of the campaign ruled him out of the last two games.
The Poland international has been joined by Konsa on the treatment table, and Pau Torres could potentially join them after an issue with Spain.
These defensive issues will certainly come as a massive blow to the Villans and will leave Emery raging, especially with the Englishman’s issue given it came in a largely pointless Nations League game.
In the clash against the Greeks, the Villa man had done well to keep their forward line quiet just over a month after losing against them at Wembley.
This saw the ex-Brentford man win two duels despite not being forced into making a tackle, completing just one defensive action across his 45-minute showing [FotMob].
Despite not being forced into much defensive work, his ability on the ball was there for all to see as the Villa star registered 48 touches and maintained a 100 per cent pass accuracy across his 44 attempts.

One of these made its way into the final third which may have been a higher number if he wasn’t fouled on two occasions in the first half.
This pass completion was improved from the defeat against Liverpool (9 November) where he was still impressive with an 85 per cent success rate.
There is still hope that both Konsa and Torres will be available for the upcoming clash against Crystal Palace but the injury situation on international break is still of annoyance to Villa supporters and Emery.
