Jhon Duran could hurt Aston Villa chances after what he did in Colombia clash v Uruguay
Jhon Duran has enjoyed a brilliant few months at Aston Villa without getting that starting spot, but the Colombian isn’t helping his cause during the international break.
Uruguay hosted Los Cafeteros in World Cup qualifiers on 16 November, and the home side grabbed the victory after an exciting end to the game.
Colombia thought they had pulled a rabbit out of the hat after equalising in the sixth minute of stoppage time, but Manuel Ugarte came in clutch and found the back of the net in the final seconds as it ended in a 3-2 win for Marcelo Bielsa’s team.
Nestor Lorenzo started Duran in the match, but the 20-year-old wasn’t able to do too much and was hauled off in the 72nd minute with his team losing.
The Colombian was magnificent at Villa initially this season, consistently finding the back of the net coming off the bench, but goals have dried up recently for him.
Jhon Duran scuffing opportunities at Aston Villa
Against Uruguay, the striker attempted four shots with 25 per cent accuracy, completed 57 per cent of his passes, created zero chances, was caught offside once and dispossessed once, as per FotMob.

Considering the fine margins in the game, Duran missing one big chance isn’t something the Colombian fans would’ve been pleased about.
At Villa, the 20-year-old has failed to score a goal in his previous six Premier League matches, and Emery’s decision to keep him out of the starting lineup seems understandable.
Ollie Watkins has been a reliable outlet up front for the Lions over the last few seasons, and the 28-year-old caught the eyes of many people with his goal for England in their 3-0 win over Greece on 14 November.
Watkins scored from his only shot and completed 86 per cent of his passes, once again proving that he is the main man for Emery and Duran has a long way to go, yet [Fotmob].
