Aston Villa want to sign Manchester United gem Harry Amass in ‘shock’ transfer update

Aston Villa are eyeing a “shock” move for Manchester United youngster Harry Amass, according to TEAMtalk.

The online source reported [13 November] that Unai Emery’s side are long-term admirers of the 17-year-old left-back, who only arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2023.

It is understood that Villa were keeping tabs on the youngster during his time at Watford, and having moved to Man United, the Villans have maintained an interest in him.

Aston Villa to sign Harry Amass from Manchester United?

Many fans have been calling for Amass to be handed his first-team debut at Old Trafford, with many believing he is ready for the step up after impressing in the academy.

However, former manager Erik ten Hag and former caretaker manager Ruud van Nistelrooy did not bring him into the first-team set-up at any point, and Villa could take advantage of that.

Emery has shown his ability to help young players thrive at Villa Park, with many gems being given an opportunity to work alongside some of the superstars and even play in the EFL Cup.

He could join the likes of Kadan Young, Lamare Bogarde and Kosta Nedeljkovic have all earned their chances under Emery, and Amass could join them.

There is a clear path from the academy at Bodymoor Heath to the first senior squad at Villa Park, and this could be enough to tempt Amass down the Midlands should Villa make their move.

The Villans already have plenty of talent at left-back, with Ian Maatsen being signed as a back-up for Lucas Digne, but that is not to say that the 17-year-old would not be given his chances.

Amass is clearly a very talented player, one that might be ready for a shot at first-team stardom, but Villa will only know if they take a punt and take him off United’s hands in the next transfer window.

In Aston Villa news, the Villans are set to reignite their interest in Matias Soule after having a summer bid rejected by Juventus.
