Jamie Carragher predicts Club Brugge v Aston Villa and Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen

Jamie Carragher has predicted Aston Villa will maintain their 100 per cent record in the UEFA Champions League when they face Club Brugge on Wednesday.

Villa will look to bounce back from their 4-1 loss to Tottenham at the weekend when they visit Bruges on Wednesday (6 November).

Carragher reckons Unai Emery’s side will succeed in that, predicting a 1-0 scoreline in favour of the Villans on Sky Sports’ Super 6.

The pundit also believes the Birmingham-based club will be the only side to have won each of their four Champions League games after this week, tipping Bayer Leverkusen to hold Liverpool to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday (November 5).

Unai Emery hoping for reaction from Aston Villa after loss v Tottenham

Aston Villa have won only one of their last five league games and their defeat against Tottenham in North London at the weekend was demoralising, to say the least.

Therefore, it is important that the club return to winning ways against Club Brugge on Wednesday. Emery will be hoping for a reaction from his players as he looks to avoid the team’s league form to reflect on their performances in Europe.

Their opponents go into the game on the back of a three-game winning streak but have conceded three goals in two of their three Champions League games so far.

Meanwhile, Emery may have one eye on Villa’s trip to Liverpool on Saturday (9 November). The Spaniard’s team has failed to win in the league after their last two European games and this trend is a cause for concern.

There is a question mark regarding Villa’s ability to handle the fixture congestion. It remains to be seen if they can address it this week.

In other Aston Villa news, Emery’s stance on the signing of this Argentinean attacker has come to light.
