Ollie Watkins backed for Aston Villa goal amid latest Tottenham injury boost
Ty Bracey has backed Ollie Watkins to score against Tottenham as Micky van de Ven looks set to miss the Aston Villa clash alongside Son Heung-min.
The Dutch international came off for Spurs against Manchester City with an apparent hamstring injury which could see him miss the clash against the Villans on Sunday 3 November.
This will be a boost for Unai Emery’s side after the news that Son looks set to miss out through a thigh injury but will take a late fitness test.
With these absentees for Ange Postecoglou, Villa podcaster Bracey, who features on the Villa Social, has backed Watkins to get on the scoresheet in North London.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “They are both massively important to the Spurs starting 11.
“Son is essentially their star man so if he’s not going to be present then that is a plus for Villa. They’ve still got Solanke, Werner and Kulusevski who are all very good players on their day.
“Van de Ven is very quick, got a lot of legs, so he will be a miss. Villa will get the best of Ollie Watkins then and I think he scores. I’m confident that Villa will still go toe to toe with them.“
Ollie Watkins backed to score for Aston Villa v Tottenham after Micky van de Ven injury
The England international has had a very underrated start to the campaign which has seen him score five and assist two in the Premier League this campaign.
The 28-year-old was ineffective against Bournemouth but will be hopeful of returning with a goal against Tottenham.
This task has been made easier by van de Ven being missing given the level of pace and strength that the centre back has.

With Jhon Duran as an option off the bench, Villa have been handed an excellent chance to take all three points away from North London.
In other Aston Villa news, Jeff Stelling made a bold statement about Villa’s chances in the Champions League, and Ally McCoist couldn’t agree more.
