Jhon Duran ‘frustrated’ at Aston Villa as ‘childish’ claim made after footage emerges

Bryan King believes Aston Villa star John Duran is “frustrated” by his lack of minutes this season.

The ex-Villa scout has criticised the striker for his “childish” antics.

It comes after Duran was spotted having an outburst on the bench after he was substituted following his goal during Villa’s 2-0 win over Bologna in the UEFA Champions League at Villa Park on Tuesday (22 October, via TNT Sports).

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels Duran ought to remember the reason he is playing football in England.

“Duran is clearly frustrated,” King said.

“He feels he should be starting and the manager doesn’t. However, at the moment, Unai Emery is bringing him on and he is scoring goals. That is what managers are for, and good managers at that.

“Emery probably knows the player better than the player knows himself. Duran is still young and still learning even though he’s scoring goals. There is more pressure when you start.

“This is all childish. He wants to remember who brought him into English football and he wants to remember what club he is playing for.”

Jhon Duran frustrated at Aston Villa?

Duran has had quite a few months in the West Midlands. After he looked close to leaving the club in the summer, he has since signed a new contract at Villa Park.

His season has been a breakthrough one, with the striker leading the scoring charts at Villa Park having scored seven times in all competitions.

Therefore, it is understandable why the 20-year-old would be frustrated over his lack of starts. Despite constantly scoring off the bench, Duran’s start against Bologna on Tuesday was just his second of the season, with the Colombian yet to start in the Premier League.

However, causing any issues or reacting poorly behind-the-scenes is not the way to make an impression on Emery. As a result, all the striker can do is keep his head down and keep scoring goals.
