Aston Villa slammed for ‘Ridiculous’ decision v Bologna as communication falls flat

Dan Bardell has slammed Aston Villa for their ticket prices against Bologna after emails were sent out to offer an “exclusive opportunity” to season ticket holders.

The club revealed in September that match tickets for the Champions League would cost up to £94 for general admission while also offering hospitality packages [avfc.co.uk, 4 September].

Ahead of the clash against the Serie A outfit on Tuesday 22 October, it appears that many of these packages have gone unsold with the club now offering them as “bolt-ons”.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist and season ticket holder Bardell believes the Villans have got their prices wrong and is intrigued to see what the attendance will look like against Bologna.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “You get mixed messages from the club, it will be interesting to see when the game kicks off to see how many seats they have sold.

I’m getting emails asking offering me a chance for an ‘exciting opportunity’ to pay an absolute fortune to be on what is basically a proper concourse.

I just think they’ve got it wrong, they can try and jazz it up all they want but they’re obviously struggling to shift these hospitality packages on a game-to-game basis.

I’m not surprised because they’re charging through the nose and people are being forced to pick and choose games but if it wasn’t for the ridiculous prices they would be at every game. I think the club has made a rod for its own back.

Aston Villa slammed for ticket prices v Bologna

Villa fans are stuck between a rock and a hard place with their club with them keen to watch Champions League football but with the prospect of paying nearly £100 for the privilege, some are being priced out.

As well as standard matchday tickets, the club are offering an “exclusive opportunity” through email which would see fans pay up to an additional £156 for their ticket, if they choose to.

Given that the Villans were in the Championship just five years ago with the Upper Trinity Road stand closed, the hierarchy have soon forgotten about those who were there in the darker times.

Considering tickets are now available through resellers for less than £40, in some cases, the club are not making themselves look very good right now.
