NSWE working on ‘Something big’ at Aston Villa amid investment developments
Dan Bardell believes “something big” is going to happen at Aston Villa after the latest investment from Atarios.
Kieran Maguire revealed on 8 October via X that an additional £50million has been injected into the club through new shares, but this didn’t come from NSWE.
It has now been shared that minority stakeholder Atairos was behind this investment, taking their overall stake in the Villans to 31.1 per cent [The Athletic].
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks that this points towards a change at Villa Park despite this cash injection being normal.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “It’s just a normal investment.
“There is definitely something going on with Atairos going on in the background.
“They are a huge entity and it wouldn’t surprise me if something big happened with them moving forward. I don’t think that Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are suffering from a lack of money.
“I think there’s just something bubbling in the background and I do honestly think something big is going to happen with them moving forward.“
Aston Villa receive investment from Atairos
It hasn’t been plain sailing for the Villans, financially, in recent months as they were just hours away from being hit with a potential 10-point deduction for a financial fair play breach.
It was Douglas Luiz and his move to Juventus that allowed the hierarchy to balance the books at the last minute [Daily Mail, 3 September].
As a result, it appears that Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are looking for fresh investors who can push the club forward on and off the pitch.
Atairos is an independent strategic investment company whose investment is there to improve the structure of the multi-club type model that NSWE are developing through V-Sports.
It can only be positive that this investment is coming into the club and it will be interesting for supporters to see where it leads.
