Aston Villa and Unai Emery to be delighted after recent Emiliano Martínez decision

Bryan King believes Unai Emery will be pleased that Aston Villa star Emiliano Martínez was banned from Argentina’s next two matches.

The ex-Villa scout claims this is one less thing the club need to worry about ahead of the upcoming international break.

As reported by BBC Sport (28 September), Martínez has been handed a two-match ban by FIFA for “offensive behaviour”.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Villa Newsthinks this decision is beneficial for Emery.

“Whether Argentina are playing home or away, it is a long way to go,” King said.

“There is also a question mark over whether or not he will come back fit. Therefore, I think this is a good thing for Emery.

“It is one less thing for Villa to worry about over the next international break. I would think that is pleasing for Emery.”

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez banned for Argentina

Martínez will be incredibly frustrated that he can’t represent his country for the next two matches. Therefore, Emery will be hoping this doesn’t impact his performances.

The goalkeeper wasn’t at his best as Villa drew 2-2 with Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday (29 September), and Emery will be hoping to see him bounce back.

While some much-needed rest over the upcoming international break could be crucial for such a big-name star, Villa fans won’t want to see the goalkeeper’s morale impacted after his recent ban.
