Aston Villa fans plea made ahead of Bayern Munich tie, it’s what Unai Emery wants

Dan Bardell has urged Aston Villa fans to get behind the team and Unai Emery against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The Villans welcome the Bundesliga giants to Villa Park on Wednesday (2 October) in their first home clash in Europe’s elite club competition since 1983 in a mammoth occasion for the club and supporters.

Things started in perfect fashion against Young Boys as Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana helped to confirm a 3-0 win and they will be keen to make it two wins from two.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes fans have a big part to play in the stadium, especially given Emery speaks about them after almost every game.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “This is going to be some occasion. It’s probably the most excited I have ever been to go to a game at Villa Park.

You are looking at fans who have waited their whole lives to see us in the Champions League, and if they have seen Villa in elite competition before, it has been a long, long time. So everyone is coming together to create an atmosphere that will be so pure and full of emotion.

The atmosphere will play into the performance and the result. It’s so cliche but the crowd can really work with the team to get the win.

There’s a reason Emery references the crowd at any given chance. I genuinely believe Villa can win. It promises to be a memorable evening.

Aston Villa prepare to face Bayern Munich at Villa Park

It may not be the greatest preparation to face a six-time Champions League winner in scraping a draw against Ipswich Town away from home.

Goals from Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers helped to secure a point despite some suspect defending throughout the clash.

It has to be said that this hasn’t dampened the atmosphere around the club, though, with supporters counting down until the Champions League anthem is played at Villa Park.

Given that the club have been through relegation battles, Championship mid-table obscurity and difficult times under Steven Gerrard, playing in Europe’s elite competition for the first time in over 40 years is going to be met with an amazing atmosphere.

This is a huge occasion for the club but facing Bayern Munich won’t be an easy task regardless of the atmosphere. Supporters can only do so much, then it’s very much over to the players.
