Ty Bracey believes John McGinn deserves to play for Aston Villa against Bayern Munich but will be frustrated to have picked up an injury.

The Scotland international was taken off at half time against Wolves with what appeared to be a hamstring injury which could see him ruled out for many weeks.

With the Champions League clash against the Bundesliga giants coming up on Wednesday 2 October, it is likely that the Villa skipper will miss out.

Villa podcaster, who features on the Villa Social, Bracey was sorrowful for the 29-year-old who he believes will be extremely disappointed to not feature.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: "It's massive. I would have loved nothing more than to see John McGinn against Bayern Munich.

"He's been with us since our lowest point and at rock bottom so if there is anyone that deserves to be on that pitch against Bayern Munich it's him.

"It is disappointing but I think we'll be absolutely fine, I'm just gutted for him that he won't be able to experience that as a player at Villa Park.

"He's going to be kicking himself and rightly so."

The midfielder signed for Villa in the Championship and made his debut for the club against Wigan Athletic at Villa Park.

To go from that to Champions League against Bayern Munich is a massive achievement and it will be gutting if McGinn isn't to feature.

The former Hibernian man was on good form in the opening game of the league phase as the Villans dismantled Young Boys in a 3-0 away win.

He started the next game against Wolves and was forced off at half time as he hobbled off late on against Gary O'Neil's side.

One thing that Unai Emery won't do is rush him back for the Bayern clash which would make it likely that the Scot watches the German giants from the stands.
