Morgan Rogers set to earn England call-up as Aston Villa ace shines v Wolves
Bryan King believes interim England manager Lee Carsley will be taking a close look at Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers ahead of the October international break.
The ex-Villa scout previously suggested that a senior call-up wasn’t too far off for the 22-year-old.
Rogers once again shone for Villa, providing two assists as Unai Emery’s side came from behind to beat Wolves 3-1 at Villa Park (21 September).
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels as though Carsley will have taken notice.
“I think Rogers is beginning to prove what an important player he is,” King said.
“His passing is good, he makes the right runs and he works hard. Therefore, he must be making Carsley look and think about bringing him in.
“If he is going to play Ollie Watkins, it is not a bad idea to have somebody who plays with Watkins in your squad.
“I would have thought he would get an opportunity to feature for England in October, certainly to introduce him to the senior squad. He wouldn’t be out of place.
“It would be interesting to watch him in action for the senior England side.”

Rogers has been one of Villa’s players of the season thus far. His form has been so good that he recently made Don Goodman admit he was wrong about the youngster.
Although he didn’t have a goal or assist to show for it up until the win over Wolves, the forward’s performances have been of a high quality.
Therefore, Carsley would be wise to include Rogers in the upcoming England squad and have him link up with Watkins.
The interim boss handed out several debuts in September, therefore proving he is not afraid to take a chance on an unproven player.
As a result, Rogers will feel as though he has earned his opportunity to make an impact for the Three Lions.
