Jacob Ramsey class above in Aston Villa Under-21s cameo v Fleetwood Town

Jacob Ramsey showed his class and was on top form for Aston Villa in a second-half cameo for the Under 21s against Fleetwood Town.

The Young Lions are up and running in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, securing all three points late on against the League One side.

Emi Buendia marked his long-awaited return from injury with a bang, scoring two in 40 minutes to hand the Villans the lead at halftime.

After the interval, the home side scored two to bring the clash back level before Kyrie Pierre scored with two minutes remaining to take the points away from Highbury.

Ramsey made an appearance to build up his match fitness and will have impressed Unai Emery with his performance, showing his class throughout.

The England Under 21 international struggled with injury throughout last season and is now beginning to get back to his best.

This was shown with his influence against Leicester City as he was instrumental in Amadou Onana’s opening goal from Youri Tielemans’ set piece.

The 23-year-old was handed 45 minutes against the Fishermen and was able to build his fitness, perform well and show how good he is.

The academy graduate was able to take 38 touches and in that time attempted 33 passes with an 88 per cent pass accuracy, keeping the young side ticking over.

Ramsey was characteristically great with the ball at his feet, maintaining a 100 per cent dribble success rate.

Defensively, the attack-minded midfielder was also helping out and showed his work rate with a 100 per cent duel win rate which will impress Emery as much as anything else.

After the international break, the local lad will be hoping to have earned a starting role against Everton based on this cameo.
