Sky Sports says how many signings Aston Villa will make on Deadline Day
Aston Villa are not expected to complete any new transfers on Deadline Day with profit and sustainability rules in mind, according to Sky Sports.
Lyall Thomas reported in Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre (30 August) that due to PSR concerns at Villa Park, Unai Emery is “unlikely” to further to his squad before the window shuts at 11pm on Friday.
The update was caveated with a statement of “never say never”, but Thomas reported that the most likely movement at Bodymoor Heath on Deadline Day could be a loan exit for Leander Dendoncker.
Do Aston Villa still need new transfers on Deadline Day?
Villa have been by no means shy to do business in this summer’s transfer window, spending well over £100million on eight first-team signings in preparation for their upcoming Champions League campaign.
The latest of these, however, was Amadou Onana’s £50m switch from Everton, coming back on 22 July with Emery seeing no need to add to his side further in the 39 days since.

That’s both a sign of the Spaniard’s trust and assuredness in the make-up of his squad, and also the PSR concerns which have seen several Premier League clubs forced into cut-price sales this summer.
Midfielders Tim Iroegbunam and Douglas Luiz have both left the club as a result of PSR guidelines, but the arrivals of Onana and Ross Barkley will undoubtedly help to fill these gaps.
Dendoncker’s impending loan move to Anderlecht [TEAMtalk, 29 August] could also necessitate a replacement being needed, but given Emery saw little use for the Belgian last season, even shunting him out on loan to Napoli, it’s unlikely he’ll see this as an issue.
In other Aston Villa news, one Unai Emery signing staked his claim for international honours in the Villans’ 2-0 loss to Arsenal.
