Lorenz Assignon claim emerges as Aston Villa eye new right-back transfer

Lorenz Assignon is expected to pass his medical if he joins Aston Villa after an injury-free campaign at Burnley last season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the 24-year-old right-back, who’s currently plying his trade at Rennes, can also hit the ground running at Villa Park due to his prior Premier League experience.

Foot Mercato reported on 23 July that Villa were keen on the Frenchman who will cost £8.5million this month.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientisttold Villa News:

It’s quite important that he played in the Premier League last season as he can look to hit the ground running with minimal risk of injury.

That’s because the club can focus on the player’s on-pitch integration fully rather than having to navigate injury obstacles such as limited fitness.

It also bodes well for him that he was injury free last season at Burnley and there should be no issues with his medical.

Lorenz Assignon would be a shrewd signing for Aston Villa

Villa’s pursuit of Assignon underscores a strategic need for depth and competition at the right-back position before the transfer window closes.

With Matty Cash as the primary option, adding Assignon, who has shown promise in the Premier League with Burnley, could elevate Villa’s defensive flexibility.

The 24-year-old’s potential arrival not only provides cover but also introduces competition, which could spur Cash to higher performance levels or offer tactical variations under Unai Emery.
