Enzo Barrenechea should still make Aston Villa loan exit amid Boubacar Kamara development
Dan Bardell believes that Enzo Barrenechea should still leave Aston Villa on loan as Boubacar Kamara steps up his recovery from injury.
Fabrizio Romano had reported on 28 August that the Argentine was set to join Valencia on a season-long loan but now Unai Emery appears to have blocked a deal [Matteo Moretto].
The temporary move appeared to make sense after the 23-year-old missed out on the opening two Premier League matchday squads for the Villans.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes that the midfielder should still go out on loan before Kamara returns from his long-term injury.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think it makes sense from a development point of view.
“I’m not sure that this would have happened if Boubacar Kamara had taken longer to recover from injury. He looks like he could be back ahead of schedule and even back amongst it after the international break.
“I think that is part of Villa’s decision because he’s going to be behind all their other options.
“He will develop more playing for Valencia rather than being on the bench at Villa.“
Enzo Barrenechea loan deal halted by Aston Villa
The man signed from Juventus made an impression on Villa fans in his opening appearances in preseason after his move to B6 went through.
This came as a surprise to many supporters but this shock turned into a demand to see more of the midfielder, a demand that they haven’t been afforded.
Barrenechea has missed out on the opening two games of the season, being spotted with the squad but not on the substitute bench at Villa Park against Arsenal.
A loan move to Valencia could have proved to be the making of the new signing, especially if his game time looks likely to be limited.
Now Emery wants him to stick around which could see him feature more regularly in claret and blue moving forward.
