Fabrizio Romano shares Aston Villa transfer stance on Joao Felix after Moussa Diaby sale
Joao Felix is appreciated by Aston Villa and is seen as an ideal replacement for the exit-bound Moussa Diaby, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Villans have been previously linked with the Ex-Barcelona man [Duncan Castles, 4 July] earlier in the window but thanks to the likely exit of Moussa Diaby, their interest has been heightened.
The Italian journalist reported via X on Monday (22 July) that although the financials of the deal are “extremely difficult” the Villans are still considering making a move.
Barcelona are also touted with an interest but their focus has now been turned to Nico Williams after his stellar Euro 2024 tournament.
Aston Villa signing Joao Felix would be a major statement
The Villans have already been fairly active in the summer transfer market with the sale of Douglas Luiz [Fabrizio Romano, 27 June] being the club’s biggest departure.
In terms of arrivals Unai Emery has also been making some moves, Amadou Onana is on the cusp of joining after a £50million fee was agreed upon by the two clubs.
Villa are expected to make many more additions as the window goes on as they prepare for their maiden Champions League campaign after pipping Tottenham to fourth place in the Premier League.
Jhon Duran is another payer who has consistently been linked with a Villa Park exit and there’s no doubt that he’ll need to be replaced.
Although Duran didn’t start many games last season, when called upon, he made a difference to the Villans’ attack.
But, with the strong interest shown in the Colombia international from the likes of West Ham, it’s unlikely that the winger will be a Villa player for much longer.
Felix’s versatility alongside his keen eye for goal would make him an unbelievable coup for the club and would show that they really mean business.
