Bryan King claims Amadou Onana's arrival at Aston Villa will be "a huge boost" for the club.

The ex-Villa scout has suggested that the midfielder could form an effective relationship in the middle of the park with Youri Tielemans.

As reported by Sacha Tavolieri via X (21 July), Onana is currently undergoing his medical tests and will officially sign his contract with the club on Sunday (21 July).

And King - speaking exclusive to Villa News - has detailed just how fantastic this bit of transfer business is.

"Onana will be a great addition to the Villa squad," King said.

"His linkup with Tielemans in midfield could be a huge boost for Unai Emery too.

"I think for Onana too it is big. The idea for him and his agent would have no doubt been that he is moving to a club which is more likely to be challenging for things.

"He will be playing in the UEFA Champions League, which must have been a big incentive for him. Also, he won't be fighting relation with Villa as he has been since he joined Everton."

Aston Villa set to sign Amadou Onana from Everton

It is hard to see many drawbacks to this transfer for both Villa and Onana.

For the Villans, they are signing a Premier League-proven player who could help to fill the gap left behind by Douglas Luiz following his move to Juventus.

As for Onana, he is moving to a club which will be competing in the Champions League and fighting much higher up the table than the Toffees.

Under Emery, the 22-year-old is also likely to improve, and could therefore help take Villa to the next level.
