Moussa Diaby bid too good to turn down as Aston Villa transfer now on cards
Dan Plumley has insisted that some offers are too good to turn down with Moussa Diaby potentially set for the exit door at Aston Villa.
Al-Ittihad have made a £46.2million offer already for the French attacker [Santi Aouna], with personal terms already said to be agreed [Gianluigi Longari].
The football finance expert admitted that with Champions League football to come, Villa may not need to accept, but if the offer is above their market value, they may not be able to say no.
“Whether or not clubs will openly say that is another question,” he exclusively told Villa News when asked if some offers are too good to turn down.
“I think there is, and I think it is all situational.
“Right now, Villa probably feel like they don’t need to sell, but if you are not in the Champions League the following year, that then drops some money off the revenue line and you have got other considerations around players in and out.
“I think sometimes you don’t want to and don’t feel like you need to lose players, but if you think the offer is above market value or it is a really good offer that won’t come round again, it does become a hard decision to turn down.
“If it is that kind of money that is being offered and Villa think that is above asking price, then it does put the pressure on, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
“If it’s an offer that’s way above what you perceive to be market value, you’ve got to have a serious look at it in this day and age.”
Aston Villa to accept Moussa Diaby transfer
Unai Emery will be analysing his squad closely ahead of the new season, but with Douglas Luiz already leaving, it may be hard to see another first-team star head out.
Amadou Onana is on his way to Villa Park in another huge deal, said to be worth £50million [Fabrizio Romano], so another sale may be needed.
Things are moving very quickly here, so the answers will soon be revealed.
