Jaden Philogene sends cryptic message to new Aston Villa signing
Jaden Philogene has sent a public social media message to Samuel Iling-Junior amid talk he is himself wanted by Aston Villa.
On an Instagram post by Iling-Junior [11 July], one of Villa’s new recruits from Juventus, Philogene commented with a “side-eye” emoji, which was liked by his England youth team-mate.
Philogene has been discussed as an encouraging potential signing for Unai Emery’s men [Fabrizio Romano, 10 July], following a superb campaign in the Championship with Hull City upon leaving Villa Park last year.
Aston Villa seeking Jaden Philogene return?
Having made just six appearances with Aston Villa prior to leaving last September, Philogene has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Hull City which nearly took the side into the Championship play-off places.
The 22-year-old managed 18 goal contributions for the Tigers including netting 12 times, and now it appears Hull are resigned to losing their talisman.
A buy-back clause put in place when selling the forward entitles Villa the matching rights on the deal after Ipswich Town agreed an £18million fee with Hull.
Emery may be able to convince the player of regular game time this term, possibly even in the Champions League as well as the Premier League.
Iling-Junior, 20, joined in a transaction linked to Douglas Luiz’s move to Juve, having arrived in Italy from the Chelsea academy in 2020.
The duo currently play together for the England Under-21 side, explaining their social media network, but supporters will be excited by the interaction all the same.
