Aston Villa make step forward to sign Atletico Madrid ace Joao Felix as verdict emerges

Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix is unlikely to feel the after-effects of his injury should he move to Aston Villa, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he likely had a Grade 2 ankle inversion last season but appeared to have recovered after the right rehab.

Spanish news outlet Sport reported on 8 July that Villa have taken a step forward to sign the Portugal Euro 2024 attacker and an initial loan with an obligation to buy is on the cards.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

“He had an ankle injury that kept him out for four games last season.

If he had an ankle sprain, that would most likely be a Grade 2 inversion sprain on the outside of his ankle.

If it wasn’t that, then it’s difficult to say.

With the right rehab and return to play, shouldn’t cause him any more issues.

As far as adaptation, he will have to adapt to the higher amount of sprints and intensity but his stint with Chelsea will do him good in terms of what to expect.

Aston Villa must not overpay for Joao Felix

Villa must be cautious about overpaying for Felix due to his underwhelming performance during his loan spell at Chelsea.

Despite his high potential, the 24-year-old struggled to make a significant impact in the Premier League, which raises concerns about his ability to adapt to the English game.

Additionally, his previous disagreements with Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone, suggest potential attitude issues.

Given these factors, it would be risky for Villa to commit to a high obligation to buy Felix without first seeing a sustained improvement in his form and attitude.
