Aston Villa need to make Jaden Philogene promise to seal deal after Fabrizio Romano update
Bryan King claims Aston Villa will need to offer Jaden Philogene first-team guarantees to convince him to join the club.
The ex-Villa scout doesn’t believe the Hull City winger will be a regular at Villa Park.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (10 July), Unai Emery’s side have activated the matching rights clause for Philogene after Ipswich Town’s bid for the 22-year-old.
But King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – isn’t convinced that this transfer is a good idea.
“It will come down to whether or not he is a regular at Aston Villa,” King said.
“I don’t think he will be. Therefore, I think Villa would be better off looking elsewhere and letting the player build his career with Ipswich or Everton.
“If they think he is good enough, bring him back and offer him first-team guarantees.
“He seems to have caught the attention of Premier League clubs, which may have caused Villa to become interested in him again.
“However, he might spend a lot of time on the bench if he moves there.”
Will Aston Villa re-sign Jaden Philogene from Hull City?
Philogene might be tempted to make a return to Villa Park.
The Englishman would have the chance to make a name for himself at a club where he previously failed to do so.
However, he is far more likely to play regularly for a club such as Ipswich or Everton. Therefore, for the player, it might be best if he avoids a return to his former side.
For Villa, it makes sense why they would want to sign Philogene. It is a perfect opportunity for the club to bolster their attacking options without breaking the bank.
And it looks as if supporters must wait patiently for a resolution to this transfer saga.
