Aston Villa activate clause as Jaden Philogene deal to be completed soon

Ty Bracey has suggested that a deal for Aston Villa to resign Jaden Philogene from Hull City could now be completed soon.

Fabrizio Romano has reported (10 July) that the Villans have activated their matching rights clause to challenge Ipswich Town’s bid for the Englishman.

The transfer specialist has suggested on X that Villa would pay 30 per cent less than the £18m offered by other clubs as they had a sell-on clause.

Villa podcaster Bracey thinks that a deal could be completed quickly and thinks the final decision will be in the hands of the 22-year-old this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I think if anything is going to happen with this deal, it’s going to happen soon.

“I think he deserves a chance of first-team football and I don’t think he’ll get that regularly at Villa. He’s someone who knows the club having been there for a long time previously.

It’s up to Philogene to decide, Villa will respect his decision whatever he wants to do this summer.

There’s been talk of signing for Villa then being loaned out but I don’t think he will want that after a season of first-team football.

Jaden Philogene moves close to Aston Villa transfer

Philogene was one player who took Villa fans by surprise with his electric performances in the Premier League Summer Series during preseason.

This left Unai Emery shocked by the quality of player he had available but was reluctantly forced to sell him to Hull City for PSR reasons.

Now the England youth international looks set for a Villa Park return with the Villans activating the clause placed in his contract last summer.

It remains unclear where the 22-year-old will fit into the Villa squad next season considering the options already at Emery’s disposal.

Philogene will be an exciting addition nonetheless but a deal relies on the winger choosing the Villans ahead of other Premier League sides.
