Philippe Coutinho on verge of Aston Villa exit with new loan transfer development
Philippe Coutinho is “very close” to leaving Aston Villa and joining Vasco da Gama on loan, according to John Percy.
The Telegraph journalist reported to X on 4 July that as the Brazilian playmaker came through the Vasco da Gama academy, a move works for both parties.
The deal is set to last the full season and allows the former Liverpool man to try to re-ignite his career.
Why Philippe Coutinho is leaving Aston Villa on loan
Since he was brought to the Villans by former teammate Steven Gerrard, things haven’t quite gone to plan for the 32-year-old,
Whilst Gerrard was in charge, it seemed as if his move to Villa Park was set to work out as he managed a total of eight goal involvements in just 19 games.
Granted, the injuries that he suffered need to be taken into account but that doesn’t excuse his underperformance when fit.

Coutinho has been heavily linked with a move away for some weeks now [Fabrizio Romano, 26 May] and it finally feels as if the saga is about to come to an end.
If it wasn’t already clear enough for the former Barcelona man, its unlikely that we will see him represent Villa ever again, especially with the plethora of attacking talent they have within their ranks.
In addition, Samuel Illing-Junior’s arrival also didn’t his chances much as the youngster plays in the same positions as the Brazilian does.
All in all, despite the move being a positive for the 32-year-old, Unai Emery would’ve likely much preferred a permanent deal.
