Aston Villa to make Conor Gallagher transfer decision as ‘reluctant’ claim emerges
Bryan King believes Aston Villa might have to reconsider a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The ex-Villa scout feels that the 24-year-old might be unhappy if he ends up joining Unai Emery’s side.
As reported by the Telegraph (2 July), Gallagher is thought to be “reluctant” to move to the Midlands.
As a result, King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – claims the club should identify fresh transfer targets.
“First and foremost, you want the player to be happy at the club,” King said.
“If Gallagher is reluctant to move to the Midlands, that is your first sign that he might not be happy. As a result, it might take a lot to convince him to make the move.
“He seems to have a nice life in London, he is a London boy. If Chelsea offered him a new contract, it is hard to see him turning it down, and I can’t see why Chelsea wouldn’t want to keep him.
“It sounds to me like Villa are going to need to start to look elsewhere.”
Will Aston Villa sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea?
This is a very exciting time for Villa supporters.
The club are playing in the UEFA Champions League next season and Emery has recently put pen to paper on a long-term deal at Villa Park.
Therefore, the last thing the club want to do is sign players who are going to cause trouble behind the scenes.
If Gallagher isn’t particularly keen on a move to Villa or the Midlands in general, then he should be avoided.

The club should only be targeting players who are desperate to be a part of Emery’s project. Therefore, an expensive transfer of Gallagher should not be top of the priority list this summer.
In other Aston Villa news, a swap deal between the club and Inter Milan has been mooted.
