Aston Villa to agree Philippe Coutinho loan switch as advanced transfer talks are held
Bryan King claims Aston Villa will allow Philippe Coutinho to leave the club on loan again this summer.
The ex-Villa scout feels that a move to Brazil would be perfect for the 32-year-old midfielder at this stage in his career.
As reported by Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas via X (26 June), Vasco Da Gama are in advanced talks with Villa over a loan move for Coutinho.
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – doesn’t see the talks falling through.
“He is 32, but if you’re fit, that is no age as a footballer,” King said.
“Coutinho is a top player, and he has been for a long time, and it looks as if this is a deal which will be agreed between the player and the clubs.
“He will be keen to return to his home country and this is therefore a perfect way for him to end his career.”
Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho to join Vasco Da Gama on loan
Coutinho’s time at Villa Park hasn’t been particularly memorable.
Once a world-class player, the Brazillian is clearly past his best and Unai Emery doesn’t seem to have any interest in him sticking around.
As a result, Villa sanctioning this latest loan makes complete sense.
However, some supporters might be curious as to why the club can’t seem to move Coutinho on permanently.
Perhaps his wages are causing the issue, and Villa might therefore need to wait until his contract expires to say a permanent goodbye to the midfielder.
In other Aston Villa news, the club have been accused of abusing a transfer “loophole” after a recent contract update.
