Doctor reacts as Aston Villa development emerges to sign Chelsea ace Ian Maatsen

Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen should not take long to adapt to life in the Premier League amid Aston Villa links, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has been impressed with his fitness record despite two minor setbacks in his hip and knee this past season.

This comes after Fabrizio Romano reported on 22 June that Villa are close to completing a £37million deal for the 22-year-old Dutchman.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

He had a hip injury in September but made a quick recovery and did the same with his knee injury in May as well.

His injury history is impressive and he was able to play through numerous high intensity matches with Dortmund last season, particularly in the Champions League.

That bodes well for his ability to adapt to Premier League football but it’s never a guarantee.

That said, it is a minimal risk signing for Villa and the best way to ensure he’s fit is to keep giving him game time.

Ian Maatsen is a good long-term signing for Aston Villa

The signing of the 22-year-old is a strategic move that strengthens their squad depth and competitiveness and also gives them a long-term option.

Maatsen’s impressive performance during his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, where he played a crucial role in their Champions League campaign, demonstrates his ability to perform at a high level.

His versatility as a left-back who can also play as a wing-back or in the final third adds flexibility to Aston Villa’s lineup.

Furthermore, his Champions League experience will be invaluable as Villa prepare for their first appearance in the competition in over four decades.
