Aston Villa told to sign Federico Chiesa as Juventus transfer development emerges

Ty Bracey urged Aston Villa to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus after a deal including Weston McKennie looks to have stalled.

A report from Mike McGrath for the Telegraph (18 June) has suggested that talks between the Villans and the USA international have stalled.

This has seen Villa sound out other options in a swap deal with the Old Lady for Douglas Luiz with Enzo Barrenechea and Dean Hujisen considered [Fabrizio Romano].

Now Villa podcaster Bracey has now suggested his dream option to be included in the swap for the Brazilian this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I’d love to see Villa go after Chiesa instead.

He’s probably worth a fair bit of cash compared to McKennie so it probably wouldn’t end up being part of the swap.

Villa are looking to get that deal over the line but it is stalling, McKennie wants a severance package from Juventus to get out – something is happening.

Chiesa would certainly be a great addition to the squad. He’s a big player at Juventus so it would depend if he would want to leave but he’s someone I’d love to see at Villa.

Aston Villa told to sign Federico Chiesa

The Villans have been in lengthy discussions with the Serie A giants over a deal to sell Luiz to them and deal with PSR concerns this summer.

Initially, a deal involving McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior was on the table but that appears to be tough to negotiate.

This has seen Villa add Alisha Lehmann into the deal in an attempt to help force the deal through before 30 June.

With a deal involving the Juventus midfielder proving difficult, attention has turned to new targets and Chiesa could be one of those.

There is no doubt that he is one of their best players and so they would take some convincing to let him leave this summer, especially in a swap deal.

Chiesa would be a great addition to Unai Emery’s squad but it doesn’t appear that this deal will be possible this summer.

In other Aston Villa news, deal agreed for a new signing, six-year contract in place according to David Ornstein.
