Aston Villa to lose out in Douglas Luiz deal as Juventus transfer nears
Bryan King believes Aston Villa are set to lose Douglas Luiz for less than his value.
The ex-Villa scout claims Juventus are getting a good deal for the Brazillian midfielder, who will no doubt be keen to join the Italian giants this summer.
It comes after Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday (12 June) that the Serie A side and Villa “are more than close to final agreement” for Luiz.
Villa are set to receive £16.8million as well as Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling Jr.
But King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels Unai Emery’s side are worse off in the deal.
“In today’s market that is a decent deal,” King said.
“That is probably less than he is worth in fact.
“I would think that Luiz will be keen to join Juventus, without a doubt.”
Unai Emery will be frustrated as Douglas Luiz prepares to leave Aston Villa
Luiz was one of Villa’s best players last season.
He was vital in helping the club reach the UEFA Champions League and Emery will be incredibly frustrated to see him leave.
McKennie and Illing Jr. could end up shining at Villa Park, but at the moment, this doesn’t seem like the best deal for Villa.
Both players are unproven in the Premier League and it will take a lot for McKennie in particular to fill Luiz’s boots, especially after the midfielder’s time with Leeds United previously.
