Aston Villa set Matty Cash price tag amid AC Milan transfer development
Aston Villa have placed a £30million price tag on Matty Cash amid interest from AC Milan this summer, according to John Townley.
The Birmingham Mail journalist reported [12 June] that the Serie A giants have already seen a bid for the right-back turned down by Villa but talks could continue into the summer.
It is understood that the Villans are keen to keep the 26-year-old at Villa Park but, mainly due to the club’s Profit and Sustainability situation, they might be tempted if a big offer comes in.
Could Aston Villa lose Matty Cash to AC Milan this summer?
With three years left on the player’s current contract, Villa will be under no pressure to sell Cash this summer, specifically.
However, considering the club’s position with Profit and Sustainability Rules, he could certainly be one player who is considered for a Villa Park exit.
Douglas Luiz appears to be nearing a move to Juventus, so if both were to leave ahead of Villa’s Champions League campaign next season, Unai Emery could be left with a very difficult situation.
Cash played a vital role for Emery’s side during the 2023/24 campaign, notching five goals and three assists in all competitions, helping them to advance in both the FA Cup and Europa League.
While the departure of the Poland international would be a huge miss, £30million would make a significant dent in Villa’s PSR worries and may leave the club with no choice.
Ezri Konsa was often utilised at right-back instead of Cash, which turned out to be a decent decision by Emery and could suggest that Villa are ready to move on from the current starting XI.
If Milan are to return with a second bid, one which is much closer to the £30million price tag, the Villans could allow Cash to depart after four years in the Midlands, having made 144 appearances.
