Doctor reacts to Alex Baena fitness record as £50m Aston Villa transfer news emerges

Villarreal defender Alex Baena’s fitness bodes well for Aston Villa if they sign him this summer, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that his head injury scare was the only blemish in the 2023/24 season and even that was not understood to be anything serious.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientisttold Villa News:

“Baena had a head injury scare back in December, but was cleared to play the next game.

“However, throughout the season, his fitness record has been ideal and availability is the most important factor in football.

“From a fitness standpoint, I can understand why a club like Villa would want to secure his services this summer.”

Alex Baena would be a vital addition at Aston Villa

Baena’s impressive performances for Villarreal, where he finished the season with the most assists ever in the club’s history, demonstrate his ability to significantly contribute to Villa’s attacking play.

His versatility in various roles in the final third and his creative decisiveness, as evidenced by his 18 assists in 45 appearances this past season, make him an attractive prospect for Villa’s squad.

Additionally, the Spaniard’s previous experience under Unai Emery at Villarreal could facilitate a smooth transition and integration into the team.

Given the club’s financial capability and their need to strengthen for the Champions League, Baena’s potential acquisition could prove to be a wise decision.
