Unai Emery development to aid Aston Villa in bid to sign Conor Gallagher as Chelsea news emerges
Bryan King believes Unai Emery signing a new contract with Aston Villa could help the club in their pursuit of signing Conor Gallagher.
The ex-Villa scout claims the stability which Emery brings could help lure the Chelsea midfielder to the West Midlands.
It comes after a report in The Independent (29 May) revealed there is hope a deal can be done between Villa and Chelsea for Gallagher.
Emery recently put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with Villa.
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels this could prove decisive.
“Emery has committed his future to Villa,” King said.
“That could help when the club go after players.
“That stability, as well as UEFA Champions League qualification, could help attract a star player such as Gallagher to the club.”
Unai Emery will be keen to bring Conor Gallagher to Aston Villa
This is set to be the biggest summer in years at Villa Park.
With qualification for the Champions League secured, the calibre of players the club needs to target must increase.
Newcastle United struggled last season after competing in Europe’s elite competition, and Emery will be keen to avoid a similar fate.
The squad needs improving, and a player like Gallagher would certainly help.
If they could land the 24-year-old, it would send out a message to the rest of the league.

In years gone by it would have been Chelsea taking players from Villa.
This potential transfer therefore just demonstrates how far the club has come.
In other Aston Villa news, the club are interested in Olympiacos striker Ayoub El Kaabi.
