Aston Villa backed to sign teen sensation Aziz Musibau amid Didier Drogba comparison

Bryan King has backed Aston Villa to sign teenage sensation Aziz Musibau and integrate him into their academy.

The ex-Villa scout claims that “a lot of top players” in recent years have emerged from Ghana.

It comes after the Daily Mail reported (23 May) that Villa and Celtic are both interested in 17-year-old Ghanaian striker Musibau, who has already been compared to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

His club, Dreams FC, would want around £1.2million for the striker.

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes this could be a clever long-term move.

“A lot of top players have come from Ghana in recent years,” King said.

“Villa’s priority will be to get a squad together which can compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.

“Musabi isn’t a player who would be first-team ready, but I could imagine this is the type of player who Villa would be looking to bring into their academy.

“That is what Chelsea and other top teams tend to do.”

Could Aziz Musibau provide a long-term solution for Unai Emery at Aston Villa?

Other than Ollie Watkins, Villa don’t have many exciting strikers on their books.

Watkins won’t be around forever, and Musibau could provide a long-term solution for Unai Emery.

By bringing him to England now and allowing him to develop in the club’s academy, the youngster could be ready for Premier League football in a few years.

This would represent a smart signing for Villa and a bit of business which might be looked back on favourably in the years to come.
