Jhon Duran to leave for Chelsea in £35m+ deal as Aston Villa exit rumours verified
Ty Bracey has suggested that Jhon Duran’s goals against Liverpool will have boosted his price tag that Aston Villa will demand this summer with Chelsea interested.
Matt Law reported for the Telegraph as early as the January transfer window (24 January) that the Blues “legitimately” wanted to sign Colombian.
This has been confirmed by the striker’s agent who has taken to Caracol Radio (22 May) and said: “The interest has always been there (from Chelsea).”
Add to this social media activity from Duran which has seen him liking various Chelsea media on X over recent months.
With the summer window coming up, Villa podcaster Bracey believes Villa will sell him if the price is right but recent performances will have increased his value.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He’s the one that secured Champions League football for us getting that point against Liverpool. He comes on and causes a bit of chaos for us. Those two goals will have added on a few quid.
“If the money is right then sure. None of the other players are pushing for a move and they wouldn’t do that.
“When we played against Chelsea he was getting hugs from them so you know the links are real. I’d say Chelsea need to pay £35-40 million.“
Should Aston Villa let Jhon Duran go to Chelsea?
With his social media activity in recent months, there is no secret that Duran is either a Chelsea fan or wants a transfer to the capital.
Throw in comments made by his agent and it is clear that the interest is there from the Blues.
Given that the Villans paid £18m for the striker [BBC Sport] in January 2023, they will need to get a good return on investment to let him go.
There is a good reason why Duran may want to leave given that he has featured in just three Premier League starts and 462 minutes [FotMob].
In that time he has had a positive impact off the bench in many games, none more so than his quickfire double against Liverpool (13 May).

These were his fourth and fifth Premier League goals of the season in an impressive tally given his lack of minutes across the campaign.
At 20-years-old he is certainly one for the future but with his attitude, Unai Emery may not afford him the time to develop at Villa Park.
Should a bid come in, in the region of what Bracey has suggested, Villa may move him on.
