Ollie Watkins exit verdict emerges as he’s told to thank Aston Villa fans v Crystal Palace

Bryan King believes Ollie Watkins will be happy to stay at Aston Villa next season after the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

The ex-Villa scout feels as if the 28-year-old owes his supporters a big thank you for sticking by him during his time at the club.

Watkins has had by far his most impressive season in a Villa shirt this year, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists in the Premier League.

His form has seen him linked with a move away, but King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – doesn’t see the striker leaving the club this summer.

“Villa have got some attractive players, one of those being Watkins,” King said.

“There has been plenty of talk about clubs buying centre-forwards, but I think Watkins would be more than happy to stay at Aston Villa after they qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

“This is a player who can say thank you to the supporters because they’ve stood by him ever since he came to the football club.”

Ollie Watkins set for Champions League nights with Aston Villa

If any Villa supporters weren’t already aware, qualifying for the Champions League is a huge deal.

Not only will it help the club attract players to join, but it will also help them keep hold of their current stars.

Watkins is undeniably the club’s most important player, and if he is to remain at the club, Unai Emery’s side could be set for a very exciting season next year.

But before they can think about Champions League nights at Villa Park they will be looking to end the current season on a high note against Crystal Palace on Sunday (19 May).

And Watkins, as well as his teammates, all owe their fans a big thank you after the support they have shown this season.

In other Aston Villa news, one player linked with a switch to FC Barcelona would be happy to join Emery’s side instead.
