Emi Martinez to miss weeks for Aston Villa in brand new injury blow at Villa Park
Emi Martinez is set to miss at least two weeks with injury for Aston Villa after the goalkeeper was substituted against Chelsea on Saturday (27 April), according to Infobae.
Fans at Villa Park were left surprised when they saw Robin Olsen on the sidelines looking set to enter the game at halftime, which finished 2-2.
The keeper had received treatment midway through the first half and his substitution appeared to be a precaution.
Martinez was already confirmed to be missing out against Olympiakos in the Europa Conference League first leg due to suspension.
How much will Aston Villa miss Emi Martinez?
There have been many standout performers for the Villans this season. From Pau Torres to Douglas Luiz to Ollie Watkins, players throughout the team have flourished.
Despite the impact of these players, no one is as important to Emery’s side as Martinez, who is one of the best in the world right now.
This season he has kept eight clean sheets as he has started all but two Premier League games as Villa chase Champions League qualification.
According to FotMob, he has prevented 5.22 goals this season which is amongst most in Europe which outlines his quality. Add to this 42 high claims, 36 times acted as a sweeper and an 81 per cent pass accuracy, and he puts the Villans at ease with his presence.

Although Olsen is an international goalkeeper and has his qualities, it is nearly impossible to match what Dibu adds.
Villa fans will be hopeful that Martinez can return as soon as possible and this injury crisis stops at some point. It is getting ridiculous.
