Aston Villa injury news: Early team news for Premier League clash v Bournemouth

Aston Villa are set to be without a whole host of players going into their Premier League match against Bournemouth on 21 April, according to Tom Crocker.

The Bournemouth Echo journalist reported that of Aston Villa’s several absentees, midfielder Douglas Luiz is the most notable, as he sits out the second match of a two-game suspension having picked up 10 yellow cards.

On the injury front, Villa also have doubts over Alex Moreno, while Jacob Ramsey’s season could be over due to a foot issue, meaning he may join Emiliano Buendia, Boubacar Kamara and Tyrone Mings on Unai Emery’s list of long-term absentees.

Aston Villa confident of beating Bournemouth despite injury list

Aston Villa do not need to come into this game lacking the confidence to win, having shown that even when without key players, they are capable of beating any Premier League side on their day.

Unai Emery‘s side exemplified that against Arsenal last time out, winning 2-0 at the Emirates with late strikes from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins, who has been their main attacking outlet and is in red-hot form this season.

Leon Bailey’s form has exploded this season for Villa and he looks certain to start against Bournemouth.

Add that to the steely defensive ability of players like Diego Carlos at the back, and Bournemouth will still have a huge task on their hands to try and derail the Lions, particularly at Villa Park.

Their smash-and-grab victory in north London came without Luiz pulling the strings in midfield and only saw Bailey introduced on the hour mark, implying that they are a side with quality – and, crucially, depth – from front to back.

Luiz, Ramsey and Buendia won’t be on the scoresheet against Bournemouth this weekend, but Villa still have plenty of in-form players who will plan to be.
