Aston Villa: ‘Exceptional’ Jaden Philogene transfer claim emerges after Fabrizio Romano update

Bryan King claims Unai Emery won’t have any interest in Aston Villa bringing Jaden Philogene back to the club.

The ex-Villa scout believes Emery letting Philogene join Hull City last summer is a clear sign that the forward’s time at Villa Park is over.

It comes after Fabrizio Romano revealed via X earlier this season (22 February) that multiple Premier League clubs hold an interest in the 22-year-old, with Aston Villa holding a £15million buy-back agreement for the player (via The Mirror, 23 March).

However, King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels that the buy-back clause is irrelevant.

“I don’t think Villa will have any interest in bringing Philogene back to the club,” King said.

“Emery was the one who sold him, so why would he want to bring him back? And why did he get rid of him in the first place, they could have just sent him out on loan for a season.

“Buy-back clauses are quite common, so I don’t think that means too much. I just don’t see Emery going back on his decision.

“Philogene would have had to have had an even more exceptional season for Emery to even consider bringing him back.”

Could Aston Villa bring Jaden Philogene back to the club to play under Unai Emery?

Philogene has been in fine form for Hull City this season, demonstarting to his former side that they might have been wrong to let him go.

The winger has 11 goals and six assists in the Championship, an incredibly impressive return.

However, Villa are in with a good chance of playing UEFA Champions League football next season, and they might therefore be looking for players a level above someone such as Philogene.

With the attacking talent Emery has at his disposal already, Philogene might struggle to replicate his Hull City form back at Villa Park, and it might be better for all parties involved if this transfer is avoided.
